My Journey from Injury and Frustration to Strength, and Renewal
For years, I told myself I would get back into shape “when things calmed down.” But life rarely slows down on its own. Between long commutes, demanding workdays, and the creeping fatigue of midlife, I found myself physically and mentally drained. My body began to protest — first a shoulder tear in my rotator cuff, then hip pain from endless hours of sitting, and finally, knee pain from neglecting the basics like stretching and recovery.
Setting Intentions for Healing and Growth
Each new ache felt like a reminder that I was losing control of my own body. And worse, when I sought help, I was often dismissed. A few physiotherapists brushed off my concerns, assuring me I was “good enough” for a middle-aged woman. But good enough wasn’t what I wanted. I wasn’t ready to accept that my best days were behind me. I wanted to hike again, to ski, to move freely — to feel strong and capable.
Finding the Right Support
Everything changed when I found a physiotherapist who truly listened. She didn’t see my age as a limitation. She understood that my goals — to rebuild strength, to move without pain, to live adventurously again — mattered. That validation alone was powerful.
Together, we created a plan. It wasn’t glamorous or easy. It was slow, deliberate, and consistent. I followed the exercises religiously, even on days when progress felt invisible. Over time, I began to notice subtle shifts — less stiffness, more mobility, a growing sense of confidence.
The Role of Daily Intentions
What made the biggest difference wasn’t a single breakthrough moment. It was the decision to show up every day with intention.
Each morning, instead of focusing on what I couldn’t do, I asked myself:
What small step can I take today to feel stronger?
How can I move my body with care and gratitude?
What do I want my energy to feel like by the end of the day?
Some days, that meant completing my short HIIT routine — just 15 minutes of movement that got my heart pumping and reminded me I was capable. Other days, it meant stretching, walking, or simply resting without guilt. The key was consistency, not perfection.
Finding the right support was a pivotal moment in my journey to recovery.
Progress, Not Perfection
I’m not “fixed.” I still have days when my shoulder aches or my hip feels tight. But I can see progress — not just in my strength, but in my mindset. I’m learning that healing isn’t about returning to who I was before the injuries. It’s about becoming a stronger, more aware version of myself.
Each small step has been a vote for the life I want to live — one where I’m not defined by pain or limitation, but by resilience and intention.
The First Step to Reclaiming Yourself
If you’re reading this and feeling stuck — physically, emotionally, or both — start small. Set one intention each day that moves you closer to the version of yourself you want to be. It doesn’t need to be big or impressive. It just needs to be yours.
Because every big transformation begins with a single, deliberate step.
Final Thought
The Adventure Reset isn’t about overnight change. It’s about daily choices that slowly, quietly, and powerfully bring you back to yourself.
Start today. Set your intention. Take one small step — and trust that it’s enough.
